Who We Are

backcountry women

Welcome to Backcountry Women! As the founder of this community-driven organization, I have been passionately building a community for outdoor women in Manitoba since 2017. I am also a certified Field Leader (Hiking) recognized by Outdoor Council of Canada.

I love my home on the Canadian prairies, but briefly moved away to spend several years living close to the Canadian Rockies. Living there further developed my love for adventure and the outdoors. Over the years I've enjoyed many outdoor pursuits including mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing, and more recently I've explored indoor rock climbing, and ice climbing. I enjoy pushing myself to get out of comfort zones and trying new things, and encourage others to do the same in a fun and safe way.

There are many adventurous, outdoor loving women who have been lacking a connection to other like minded women. Backcountry Women has created a thriving community which connects women out on the trails and beyond, provides a forum for the exchange of outdoor-related knowledge, and forms friendships. Backcountry Women believes in a judgement free space for women who encourage and build each other up in pursuing outdoor activity. Life is better outdoors!

We hope to see you out there, so check out the Join page!
