Regarding COVID-19: Due to the numbers placed on gathering restrictions, we need your cooperation in only signing up for events that you can truly commit to attending. 

Masks are mandatory when gathering at the beginning and end of our events. Additionally, we strongly recommend masks be worn during the activity (but are not required as long as physical distance is being maintained) - if group members are closer than 6 feet apart they MUST wear a mask covering their mouth and nose. Please review our full COVID-19 policy and safety practices here.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (AUG. 20) 

**PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS AND ALL DETAILS BELOW PRIOR TO REGISTRATION**

Join us on a Backcountry Women Warrior Women Hike on Centennial Trail, part of the Great Trail.  We will start hiking from the Bear Lake parking lot along the Centennial Trail passing by Hanson's Creek and continuing to a lookout high above Ross Lake. We will retrace our path back to Bear Lake parking lot.  A total of approximately 18km.

We will hike this trail rain or shine, unless deemed unsafe.

Arrival Time: by 8:30 AM. We will begin the hike no later than 9 AM so please arrive on timeThe time arranged allows for you to have time to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for the leaders to share information with the group. 

LocationWe will meet at Bear Lake Trail parking lot located on highway 44.  A valid Manitoba Parks pass is required and can be purchased online. Backcountry Women acknowledges that this hike will take place on Treaty 3 Territory.

Overall Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 4/5This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.

Duration / Distance: Approximately 18 kms, 6-7 hours with breaks.

Experience: This event is open to participants with a good level of fitness who have intermediate hiking experience and good endurance. You must have the ability to walk with the group at a moderate steady pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate outerwear and gear.  Strongly recommend that you have walked, run or hiked more than 10km in the last 2-3 months.

Terrain: The trail is a maintained trail with lots of ups and downs over roots and rocks.
Pace: Moderate to fast with some breaks (2.5-3.5 km/h over rocky uneven terrain - not flat land hiking speed).

Please leave dogs at home.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mail prior to an event.
