Want to learn how to belay a climbing partner? If you've done some climbing, it may be time to take it to the next level by learning top-rope belay skills! Learning to belay is an essential skill for climbing and opens up more opportunities - there are many more routes to choose from using climbing ropes!
This course will focus on the fundamentals of top-rope climbing: Safety, communication, use of equipment, knot tying, and learning how to be an effective, safe belayer. We have this evening privately booked just for us, so we'll be in a fun and supportive environment!
This event is open to participants who have climbed indoors or outdoors previously.*
Equipment included: Climbing shoes, harness, belay device (gri-gri & locking carabiner).
Course time: starts promptly at 7:00 pm - give yourself enough time before hand to find parking and locate the building and Active Living Centre front desk at the University of Manitoba.
Difficulty: *Some basic climbing experience is required. Bonus points if you already know how to tie a double figure 8 knot!
Location: The Active Living Centre at 430 University Crescent, University of Manitoba
